SIAMS

The principal objective of SIAMS inspection is to evaluate the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a church school, and how well the distinctive Christian character and ethos of the school, including the school's Christian vision and values, ensure the development and achievement of the whole child or young person.

SIAMS inspections make judgements on religious education, collective worship, and pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) education in Church of England and Methodist schools.

This is evaluated through the exploration of these three key questions -

  1. Who are we as a school?
  2. What are we doing here?
  3. How, then, shall we live and learn together?

In 2023, the SIAMS inspection framework was last revised. After the analysis and investigation of the three questions above, Inspectors decided between two different judgements. Either, the school is J1 or J2 as outlined below:

J1 Through its vision and practice, the school is living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.
J2 The school’s vision and practice are not enabling it to fully live up to its foundation as a Church school. This is for the following reason/s.

You can read the full inspection framework here.

Rowde C of E Primary Academy was last inspected under the old framework when we achieved 'Outstanding' in all areas in 2017.
