Behaviour and Relationships
At Rowde C of E Primary Academy, we believe that positive behaviour and strong relationships are at the heart of a happy, successful school community. Rooted in our Christian vision to Learn, Grow and Love, we create a calm, safe and nurturing environment where every child is supported to flourish.
We know that children learn best when they feel secure, respected and valued. Our high expectations are built upon kindness, consistency and mutual respect, helping every child to develop the confidence, resilience and character they need both in school and beyond.
We believe that behaviour is something that is taught, modelled and nurtured. Through our curriculum, collective worship and daily interactions, we explicitly teach children how to build positive relationships, make thoughtful choices and take responsibility for their actions. When mistakes happen—as they inevitably do—we see them as opportunities to learn, grow and make things right.
Our shared mantra, 'We Are Rowde', captures the culture we strive to create every day. It reminds us that every member of our school community has a responsibility to show kindness, respect and compassion, while always striving to be the very best version of themselves.
We Are Rowde means that we:
- are kind, respectful and welcoming to everyone;
- take pride in ourselves, our learning and our school;
- show courage by doing the right thing, even when it is difficult;
- take responsibility for our choices and learn from our mistakes;
- work together to help everyone feel safe, included and valued.
Our specific 'We are Rowde' expectations can be found in the graphic below:
Our approach combines high expectations with compassion. We celebrate children's successes, recognise positive choices and support every child to overcome challenges. Where relationships break down, we use restorative approaches to help children understand the impact of their actions, repair relationships where appropriate and move forward positively.
By working closely with families, we create a consistent partnership that enables every child to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive within our school community and beyond.
