'We are Rowde' Award

At Rowde, we believe that education is about much more than academic success. We want every child to develop the character, confidence and compassion to make a positive difference in the world around them. Our 'We Are Rowde' Citizenship Award encourages children to broaden their horizons, serve others, develop new skills and experience opportunities beyond the classroom.

Working towards the award helps children to develop spiritually, grow as global citizens and live out our vision to Learn, Grow and Love. Through a wide range of carefully chosen challenges, pupils are encouraged to explore their interests, care for others and the environment, build independence and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The award is designed to complement our curriculum rather than replace it. Many of the activities encourage children to spend time outdoors, support their local community, experience new places and develop practical life skills—helping to create well-rounded, confident young people.

How does it work?

Every child receives their We Are Rowde Citizenship Award booklet in Year 1. One copy is kept at school and one is sent home so that families and teachers can celebrate and track progress together.

Children work towards three levels of award throughout their primary school journey:

• Bronze (Key Stage 1): 10 activities, including at least two from each section.
• Silver (Lower Key Stage 2): 20 activities, including at least three from each section and ten new activities beyond Bronze.
• Gold (Upper Key Stage 2): 30 activities, including at least five from each section and ten new activities beyond Silver.

As a guide, we encourage children to complete around one activity each term. The award is not a race or a competition; it is about enjoying meaningful experiences, developing character and celebrating personal growth.

Living the Rowde Values
 

The Citizenship Award recognises more than completed activities. It celebrates the kind of people our children are becoming.

Alongside completing the challenges, pupils are expected to consistently demonstrate our 'We Are Rowde Super 6' learning behaviours, linked to our six school values.
 

Our Super 6 are:

• I am respectful, listen to others and value what they have to say.
• I actively involve myself with paired and whole-class learning.
• I complete and hand in my reading journal and home learning punctually.
• I always go the extra mile by improving my work to make it even better.
• I accept responsibility when things go wrong.
• I show love and kindness to others and our school.

The award celebrates children who strive to live out these values every day and act as positive role models within our school community.
 

Working Together
 

We have designed the award so that every child can achieve it with determination, enthusiasm and support.

While some activities are completed with families at home, many can also be achieved through opportunities provided in school. Our older pupils often support younger children, helping them complete activities and modelling our values in action.

Whenever children complete an activity, they simply share some evidence with their class teacher—this might be a photograph, something they have made or a short explanation of what they have done. Teachers record progress in school, celebrate achievements in Collective Worship and share successes on our celebration display so that the whole community can recognise and enjoy the children's accomplishments.
